Making the ads
To create the ads I needed for the project, I returned home. I enlisted the help of my friends: Preet, Aziz, and Pip. I had created films with this group before so I knew I could trust them to make good content with me.
I explained the concept to each of them, and let them test the current version before we started. I made sure to tell them not to take it too seriously, as the idea is to not want to watch the ad anyway, it can be as ridiculous as they want.
For the first ad, we decided to sell protein. Aziz came up with a stupid and funny idea, so we rolled with it. Originally we were going to use a real container of protein and just cover the label, but when we decided how messy this would end up we opted to use flour. Preet was given no script, just a brief outline we came up with together. He took the idea and make it extreme, and scary, which was perfect. The intensity sold it.
For the second ad, I gave Pip no idea at all. I gave him a random object from the room, (which was a leg hair scrubber) and told him to sell it to me. I then left the room and started recording. With no preparation, and on the first take he got it absolutely perfect.
Now with both ads made, I knew I had to make the core video myself. I initially wanted it to be another video with my friends, but we didn't have enough time to film anything else. I was really stressed about making this, as I am not the best on camera and I didn't want my video about the concept to distract from it.
I made my video a short recap of how I got to this point, not bothering to go into too much detail to keep the video short, as i feel my documentation elsewhere covers all my bases in detail. While I'm not super happy with my video, it does its job
When I got home I adjusted the project to include the ads, and only offer punishment if an ad was currently rolling.
